Lots and lots of updates
Saturday, December 2, 2006

Well, it's been a while between updates and for that I apologize. Things have been busy busy busy for me, so here are some highlights of upcoming releases/products/etc.

Back in Print: Rifts Chaos Earth
As I've mentioned before, at least my next couple of projects will revolve around this apocalyptic RPG. I had the privilege of editing the original text before it goes out for a new printing, and the result should be an improved version. There should be a list of the errata shortly after the book hits the shelves (it's at the printer now), and I'll be sure to link to that here.

This was an especially fun project for me, since I've been buried so deeply into that particular world as I work on the new sourcebook, tentatively titled First Responders. I'm really looking forward to seeing this new printing fly off the shelves, as I know it's been hard to find since selling out. Go ahead and order yours today so you can be one of the first to get one from the new batch.

New: Rifts D-Bees of North America
This is a new sourcebook, written primarily through a combined effort by Palldium freelancers, that details around 100 different D-Bee races found on the North American continent. About 30 of these are all-new, exciting, and unique races, all of which are playable as player characters in Rifts or any game in the Palladium Megaverse. I'm especially excited that all of the artwork in the book is NEW! Many of your favorite Palladium artists have contributed to this one, and the cover is supposed to be awesome... but Kevin won't let any of us see it!!! The release date is January 19, 2007, and you can preorder it here.

For a Limited Time, Rifter 21 is back!
Rifter 21 is the most sought-after issue of Palladium's beloved periodical. After being out of print for years, Palladium has pressed a limited number of copies in a special printing. It's noted "Special Printing" in the corner to distinguish it from the original, so you collectors out there might want to grab this one. Rifter 21 includes my optional magic casting rules, P.P.E. Channeling, so I'm excited to see it available in its original context again. Get it here while it's still available!

I have more news and site updates, plus some announcements coming soon, including some upcoming appearances, so check back in soon.

Arzno Maps sold out!

Thanks to everybody for supporting both me and Palladium. Keep checking back for the next product offering, probably in the next month or so.

Updates Galore, plus a Special Offer
Sunday, May 21, 2006

Wow, lots to update everyone on. Let's start with the Special Offer.

At the Palladium Open House, I offered some limited-edition maps and descriptions to complement
Rifts World Book 28: Arzno - Vampire Incursion. As it turns out, I have very few left and will now make those available to all of you that didn't get the chance to make it to the Open House. What is included in this package, you ask?

Seven maps printed on high-quality, durable cardstock. Every map is to scale, and each signed and numbered.

Maps include:

  • Regional overview of Arizona (as seen on p. 10 of Rifts: Arzno)

  • Layout of the Grand Canyon (expanded from the map found on p. 31 of Rifts: Arzno)

  • Arzno city overview (expanded from the map found on p. 39 of Rifts: Arzno)

  • Map of a portion of the city's Mercenary Section (as seen on p. 45 of Rifts: Arzno)

  • Map of a portion of the city's Government and Trade Section (as seen on p. 52 of Rifts: Arzno)

  • Map of a portion of the city's Residential Section (NEW)

  • Map of a portion of the city's Sky Docks (NEW)

Bound in a handsome folder with a color cover (signed and numbered) is a full listing of each and every Place of Note for the city of Arzno as found in World Book 28. Beyond that, you get 50 new Places of Note within the Residential Section and the Sky Docks, giving your players new places to live, visit, explore, find employment, or generally get into trouble. This expansion will never see print in any Palladium publication, ever. Don't miss this unique opportunity to own such an exclusive gaming reference.

Cost of this bound, 18-page, signed and numbered, limited edition collection is only $15, plus shipping. What's more, all orders received through Sunday, May 28 will be shipped for free to the Continental United States, while international orders will receive $2 off the shipping price. That's for this week only, so don't delay.

Oh, and I almost forgot... a portion of the total sales will be donated to help Save Palladium!

To claim your copy, send an email containing your address (or at least your ZIP code) to orders@jasonrichards.net to reserve your copy and arrange payment. I'll be happy to personalize the signature if you like, as well.

    ---------------

Okay, enough of the sales pitch. What else is new, you ask? Plenty. In addition to the announced material for
Chaos Earth that I'm writing, I'm involved in a secret project along with the other Palladium freelance authors. Mum's the word on this one for now, but let me just say that it will be loads of fun for everyone, I'm sure. We should turn it out to Palladium in just a couple of weeks, after which you should hear more.

There's a review of Arzno from my good friends at RPG Blog. It was a very positive review, and it's always good to see that your work is well-liked.

There will be other site updates coming soon. I've managed to grab some photos from the Open House, so I'll get those up here as soon as I can.

    Until next time, game on!

    Help save Palladium
    Wednesday, April 19, 2006

As some of you may recall, Palladium was the victim of terrible theft by a long-time friend and employee over several years. It has been revealed that the damage that was done was far more than initially thought, eclipsing a million dollars. This has put Palladium in great financial danger, but you can help.

Go to Palladium's website and buy a special limited-edition print, signed and numbered by Kevin Siembieda. If you can't do that, then just make an effort to order direct from Palladium instead of other sources. Palladium has always served the fans, and this is our chance to give back.

All of the details and discussion can be found here.

Well, if you pre-ordered World Book 28: Rifts® Arzno™ - Vampire Incursion™, start watching your mailboxes. If you haven't ordered in yet, you can do so here, or keep an eye out at your local gaming shop.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support during this exciting time. My friends, family, and gaming buddies have all been great, as have Kevin and everyone at Palladium. It doesn't quite feel real yet, but I'm sure it will sink in when I get a copy in my hands. Again, thanks.

    Tomorrow's the Day!!!
    Thursday, March 23, 2006

I'm still anxiously awaiting the announcement that Arzno™ is shipping. Mechanical problems at the printer have held it up, but they promise that it will be in Palladium's hands tomorrow, Friday 24th, a.k.a. "My lucky day."

To hold us over, though, Palladium has released a close-up look at the finished cover, revealing all of its subtle secrets. Click on the image below for a larger view.

    Arzno™ material to appear in Rifter® #34
    Tuesday, March 14, 2006

Well, it's been a big couple of months. First my P.P.E. Channeling article saw print in the Best of the Rifter®. Next, Arzno™ is scheduled to ship next week. Now, I just found out that my latest Rifter® article will appear in Rifter® #34, due out in April. The article contains new material specially written for fans of the Rifter®, plus some material that was cut from the World Book for space (apparently... I haven't seen the final cut of the book yet).

The article presents two great adventuring possibilities for your players, be they mercenaries, adventurers, or soldiers. The first portion is entitled The Machiavelli Mystery. What big secret is Arzno's resident recluse and mad scientist hiding? What sort of unique, magnificent inventions will he unveil this time around?

The second part of the article is material from the Arzno™ manuscript, detailing Operation Holy House. What is this top-secret mission given to the best and brightest of the C.S. military, and how does it impact Arzno and the mercenary adventurers of the New West? I think that you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Check out the details of the new Rifter®, and pre-order it here.

    New book information released
    Tuesday, March 14, 2006

Not a big announcement, but at least it's something to fill the time until Arzno™ ships. In the newest release about the upcoming Palladium Open House (May 5-7), Palladium let slip my next book project, a sourcebook for Chaos Earth™. I can't give any more details yet, but I'll be discussing it at the Open House, so don't miss it!

Also, in the latest press release, Palladium has pushed back the Arzno™ release date by a few days. This is just a holdup at the printer, which we all knew might happen, so chin up!

When there's more news, you'll get it here first!

    Arzno™ goes to the printer!
    Tuesday, February 21, 2006

Well, that's it! They can't take it back now. Rifts® World Book 28: Arnzo™ -- Vampire Incursion has gone to the printer and is on schedule for its March 16th release date. I'm unbelievably excited about it, needless to say. What's more, we got our first look at the cover today. Check it out:

Beyond that, there is even more news. Best of the Rifter® should be in tomorrow and ship immediately thereafter. I'm excited about that as well. It's just been a big month for me.

I'm still working on my next project, which is going well, and hopefully you'll see something special in an upcoming Rifter. I'm staying very, very busy, so don't worry... you'll get your next book soon enough. In the meantime, don't forget to go and pre-order Arzno today so that you can be among the first to get your hands on it in March.

Talk to you all again soon. Happy gaming.

Update: Wednesday, February 22, 2006 -- Best of the Rifter® is now in stock and has shipped to distributors and subscribers. Go and buy your copy now!

Hop on over to www.palladiumbooks.com and pre-order it today. This will be your last chance to get a copy of my P.P.E. Channeling article (originally found in the out-of-print Rifter® #21), as well as a lot of other great stuff. Best of all, it's free to subscribers, so do yourself a favor and sign up today. You'll even get a bonus gift in addition to the Best of the Rifter® and four killer issues during the year. It's the best deal in role-playing.

As if the book itself wasn't enough, check out the cool cover art, combining some of the best covers from over the years.

    Rifts® World Book 28: Arnzo™ -- Vampire Incursion available for pre-order
    Monday, January 30, 2006

What are you waiting for? Get out your credit card and go pre-order the book today! The projected ship date of (around) March 17 still looks good.

You can also run over and pre-order Best of The Rifter®, the new collection of the greatest articles from Palladium's fan publication. I'm honored to have one of my articles, P.P.E. Channeling from The Rifter® #21, included. That particular issue has been sold out for a while now, so if you wanted to get your hands on the article, here is your chance!

It's been a fun ride, and I look forward to a long relationship with Palladium.

    Another Arzno Update
    Wednesday, January 25, 2006

Just a short update, but I have learned that art is being assigned for the book today. I'm grinning like an idiot at the prospect! I've said it many times, and it remains true today; the coolest part about being published is having your stuff illustrated by top-notch artists such as those at Palladium. I don't know who will be doing what, and couldn't tell you if I did, but as soon as I can give more info, I will.

I also found out that the manuscript will need to be trimmed a little bit, and gave my input as what could stand to be cut, and what was vital to keep. The remaining material will be published in some form or another, be it on the web or in another sourcebook.

Have something to say on this or any other topic? Email me at jason@jasonrichards.net.

    New Release Dates
    Saturday, January 7, 2006

I'm a little late in getting this info up here, but Palladium has given us some new release dates in their most recent press release. A couple of these will include work by yours truly.

The Best of the Rifter® will ship on February 15. The 128-page compilation of the best articles and art from the first 33 issues of The Rifter, as well as a comprehensive index. My article from Rifter #21, "P.P.E. Channeling" will be featured within its pages; I'm told it's my best work (probably because it's only a couple of pages long!). This book will only cost you $12.95, but is free to subscribers. As luck would have it, the annual Rifter® Super-Subscription Offer is available right now, complete with the traditional selection of free product. Except for maybe Palladium's annual X-Mas Grab Bag, this is the best deal in gaming. Best of all is that you are supporting the amazing fanboy authors that contribute to the publication. Check it out.

And, the biggest news from where I sit is the announcement of Arzno's shipping date: March 15. I'm very excited to see it finally take shape and see print. Hopefully we'll soon see cover art, which I am anxiously awaiting.

    Stay tuned for more information!
