Friday Quick Hit: Contract Arrived Today

I really enjoy it when a contract shows up in the mail. It makes me fell all professional and legitimate.

I've been expecting it, but I got the package today from Palladium Books for my contribution to The Rifter #50. The article deals with psychic characters for Rifts Chaos Earth, and is basically a warm up for my next full sourcebook, Chaos Earth: Psychic Storm. The new Rifter material is official, and should be out in the next month or so. Also included in the issue will be official work from a number of Palladium's leading freelancers.

Now I'm off to eBay to prematurely spend my fee.

UPDATE: Actually, I just learned via the latest Palladium Press Release that The Rifter #50 is at the printer. That means it should be in our grubby little hands in just a couple of weeks if all goes well. Look forward to that!

Very nice! I've been thinking about a possible Chaos Earth campaign to run and am eagerly waiting material from my fellow Texan!

Jason, do you know exaclty why Palladium sends these contracts out for Rifter articles? The contract I got for my one article (back in Rifter #45) was a restatement of all the terms to which I already agreed in the Unsolicited Manjuscript Form. I'm just curious.

I'm certainly no expert, but I think there's something to having the author actually sign over rights after it has been read and reviewed and not have the only permissions be in something simply downloaded from the website and issued with the submission. Better safe than sorry, in any case.

Yeah, that makes sense. Thank you for the answer.
