I thought that, for my first official post, I should venture forth from a position of strength. That assumes such a thing exists.
Since I trust Google implicitly, I believe them when they tell me that by far my most popular features on the prior incarnation of jasonrichards.net were a pair of resources for the Chaos Earth RPG. It seems logical to me to post those here, again, for the use of fans of the game. You'll find two links under the heading of "Downloads" in the navigation bar: Chaos Earth RPG resources, and Chaos Earth RPG errata.
Chaos Earth RPG resources
The Chaos Earth RPG is a fantastic game. The absolute truth is that it's my favorite setting ever published by Palladium Books, and that's really saying something. I don't think it's unfair, however, to say that the setting as constituted in the original RPG is somewhat incomplete. This was mediated greatly by supplements in the form of Creatures of Chaos and Rise of Magic, but there is still a long way to go. As everyone anxiously awaits my first major offering to the franchise in First Responders, I felt the need to fill some of the void by collecting references from across the Palladium Megaverse.
If you're not familiar with it already, you should know that Chaos Earth is effectively the prequel to the Palladium Books mega-hit, Rifts. As such, there is a lot of information that bridges from the world of Rifts and reaches back through history to be relevant to Chaos Earth. This handy reference points you, chapter and verse, to the canonical references to pre-Rifts technology scattered across that multi-colored spectrum of tomes that makes up your Rifts shelf.
The document also provides references and suggested conversions from two other classic Palladium games: the pulp horror setting of Beyond the Supernatural and the apocalyptic survival game of Systems Failure. These references point particularly to sources for characters that would make great additions to any Chaos Earth game.
Chaos Earth errata
When the Chaos Earth RPG was nearing the end of its first print run, I was asked by Kevin Siembieda, the owner and top dog at Palladium, if I would provide an errata. I was deep into the game at that point, already working out my own campaign and scratching notes for my own sourcebooks, so I was happy to do so.
I rushed to work red-marking a copy of the book and documenting the changes. Once the changes were made and the second printing released, I documented the changes to the final product, ranging from typos to game balance adjustments, and produced the document that I have posted here today for the sake of public consumption.
More to come
As I have worked through final edits of my manuscript for First Responders this week, I have simultaneously been putting together another reference for use by players and Game Masters. It's something that I think will be of great help in character creation, so I'll be sure to share it as soon as I get the approval from the front office. Stay tuned.
If there is something that you'd like to see in this regard, I'm always open to recommendations. Just let me know and I'll see what I can do.
